What is MuckRuckus MS: Ohio Valley?
MuckRuckus MS is a 5k or 10k run (or walk) with obstacles that have been surrounded by or consist entirely of mucky fun. People cheer as teams of contestants slip, slide and slosh their way to the finish line. It is a unique experience whether running or watching!

How much is it to participate in MuckRuckus MS?*

*In addition to the non-refundable, non-transferable registration fee, each participant is required to raise a minimum of $100 to participate in MuckRuckus MS. All proceeds benefit the National MS Society.
Why is there a fundraising minimum?
The primary goal of MuckRuckus MS is to raise funds to support people living with MS. By raising funds, you are helping the National MS Society support vital medical research and local programs for the 400,000 Americans living with MS
Where do the funds from MuckRuckus MS: Ohio Valley go?
Multiple sclerosis stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn’t.
The National MS Society uses the funds raised through MuckRuckus to fuel medical research and provide more services than any other organization in the world. We help local people through essential direct services that empower and increase independence, including:

What happens if I register but do not reach the fundraising minimum?
In order to participate, you must raise a minimum of $100 by the date of the packet pick-up you plan to attend. If you have not met your fundraising minimum prior to the event, you will not be eligible to participate. Please feel free to contact our office by email or call 513-769-4400 for fundraising assistance.
What if I want to fundraise but I don't want to participate? Will I still have access to these tools?
Yes, you can register as a virtual participant or volunteer and have access to the same fundraising tools!
Will reaching certain fundraising levels qualify participants to receive incentives?

Who can participate in MuckRuckus MS?
Anyone who is up for the challenge and is over the age of 12 on the day of the event can muck it up for MS.
When does registration close?
Registration closes at 11:59pm the Wednesday before the event. Participants can still register at the event for a $75 registration fee and they must have their $100 minimum fundraising amount. All participants and day of event registrants must arrive 1.5 hours prior to their wave times.

What should I bring?
Please bring as little as possible. You may want to bring duct-tape (to tape your shoes to your feet). Also, bring towels to dry-off, and to cover your car seats.
Where do I keep my belongings?
Please lock most of your belongings and all valuables in your car. There will be limited space to check other items, if necessary. Please store those items in a backpack or sturdy bag.
How long is MuckRuckus MS?
The course is 5K (approximately 3 miles) or 10K (approximately 6 miles). As you run the course, you will have to wait from time to time at some obstacles.
How deep is the water and muck?
The depth is different from one challenge to the next, mostly ranging from 1 to 6 feet. All challenges 5 feet or deeper will have certified lifeguards on duty.
Will there be medical support on site?
Yes, EMS will be on site to handle any minor injuries or illness that may occur the day of the race.
What if I can't complete an obstacle?
Safety is our top priority, so we would never ask you to do something you're uncomfortable with. You are free to walk around any obstacle you like without penalty.
Will there be anything for the kids to do?
There will be a, "Little Muckers," course for supervised children 11 and younger with plenty of opportunities for the little ones to play in the muck too!
Can my friends come to watch?
Absolutely! There will be viewing areas for them at the best challenges, as well as vendors on site for purchasing food and beverages.
How do I get clean after completing the course?
The fire department will be on site to hose you down after the run, however you will want to bring a few towels and a change of clothes for the finish line celebration and ride home. There will also be gender-specific changing tents available.
Will there be food available?
Snacks and beverages (including beer) will be available for purchase.
What time does the run start?
The first wave will begin at 9 a.m. Waves are in 30 minute increments. Please run in the wave time you choose during registration.
I’m not a runner, but want to be involved! Are there options for me?
Absolutely! There are several ways to get involved as a volunteer and we need you.
How long will the course remain open?
The course will be open approximately 2.5 hours after the final wave begins.
Are walkers welcome?
Yes. Walkers are welcome! .
I have a family member who wants to run across the finish line with me, but is not registered. Is this allowed?
No. Only officially registered participants, volunteers and officials are allowed on the course. If you do not have a run number, volunteer t-shirt or official credentials you will be asked to leave the course. There will be plenty of spectator viewing areas for you to cheer on your family and friends.
How do I know if I am registered?
You will receive an e-mail confirming your registration.
I am unable to confirm my registration or my registration confirmation contains an error. What should I do?
Please call the National MS Society at 513-769-4400 to report the error. Visit the Check-in tent at the event if your error occurs the day before the event.
When and where do I pick-up my run packet?
We are offering day of check-in. Please arrive 1.5 hours before your wave time to turn in last minute donations, pick up your running packet, and receive your timing chip.
I am injured, pregnant, or no longer able to attend the run. Can I get a refund?
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. But feel good that 100% of run proceeds go towards cutting edge MS research, and programs and services for people affected by MS.
Can I give/sell my registration to another person?
No. Registration is non-transferable from one person to another.
Can I change my run registration to a different wave?
Yes, email your request to Rich Walburg.
How can I visit my page?
Visit ‘My Account’, enter your username and the password you set up during registration.
My page isn't working, how can I get help?
Email a description of your problem to email@example.com. Our team will help troubleshoot the problem.
Where can I enter cash or check donations I've received?
Mail all offline donations to the National MS Society by date. Our staff will validate the offline donation and the value will credit to your fundraising account. Please complete and attach the pledge sheet located on our Download Materials page.
I forgot my Username and Password.
Remember that your username and password are case sensitive. Click here to find your password. You will receive an email with your username and password. If you still have problems, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
How do I change my Username and/or Password?
First, log in to the site using your username and password. Once logged in you will see a link at the top of the page called "Update My Profile." Once in your profile, you will be able to change your contact information, email address, username and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. There is no need to sign in again.
How do I unsubscribe from email?
Towards the bottom of each email message there is a link stating, "Click Here to Unsubscribe from this Email Message." Click this link and follow the instructions given to unsubscribe.
What is a Personal Page?
A personal page is an online promotional tool for your use when asking your friends and family to join your team or sponsor you. Once you sign up for an event online, by default, you will have a personal page created for you. You have the option of personalizing this page by going to your account. You will be able to customize images, text and the style/color layout of the page.
How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
First, you will need to log in to your account. On the bottom right side of your account home page is the location to modify your personal fundraising goal. Enter your new goal and submit the changes.
How do I change my team name or team goal?
Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team goal. The team captain will need to log in to his/her account and click the "My Team Progress" button on the top right. On the Team Progress page, team captains will have the ability to update the team name and goal.
How can I see who has donated to me?
Log in to the site using your username and password. Go to your account and click the "My Progress" tab; this will allow you to view your donor list and any amounts that have been donated.
How can I see who is on my team?
Log in to the site using your username and password. Go to your account and click the "Team Progress" tab; this will allow you to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.
What is the difference between making my personal page private or public?
By default, a personal page is public, meaning your name will appear in the participant search list, and anyone accessing the site will be able to support you. Setting your personal page to private means your name will not appear in the participant search list and only people you personally invite will be able to support you.
How do I turn in donations?
Please do not mail in cash contributions. You can write out a personal check for any cash you receive. To turn in your contribution, you can mail or drop off your donations* at the chapter office:

*Checks should be made out to the National MS Society. Please put your name, and, "Muckruckus," on the memo line of each check.

Can I use FedEx, UPS or Certified Mail to turn in my donations?

Why is OHG Anonymous listed as a donor on my pledge report?
If we receive an offline contribution that does not include the donors name and mailing address, it will be credited to your account under the name PAE Anonymous. To update this information, please email email@example.com.
What if my donors need a receipt?
Sponsors who make an online donation via our website will receive an email confirmation that can be used for tax purposes. Offline check or credit card contributions that are received and made out to the National MS Society for $100 or more will receive a thank you letter from us that can be used for tax purposes. You can request receipts for other contributions by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I split gifts between multiple runners?
We are happy to split donations between multiple participants; however, each runner must be registered at the time the donation is received, and designation (amount and participant info) must be included with the donation at the time it is mailed or turned in.
Can my matching gift be used for next year’s event?
No, matching gifts can only applied to the same year the contribution was credited. Matching contributions cannot be included in your minimum contribution.
I mailed a donation to the National MS Society but it’s not listed on my pledge list.
Please allow 10-15 business days for processing. If the donation does not appear after 15 business days, please contact us at 513-769-4400 or email@example.com.
What can I do to make sure my donations are credited to my account?
Please make sure that your name is written in the memo line on all checks and/or include a note with your name and mailing address you used when you registered.
Can I send in donations for more than one participant in one envelope?
Yes, but please be very specific as to how the donations should be credited. The more information you provide the faster we can process your donations.
Can I mail in cash?
No, please don’t send in cash. For any cash donations you receive, please deposit the contribution into your checking account and send in a personal check. You can request receipts for cash contributions by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
What happens to the donations if I can no longer participate in the event?
All registration fees and donations are non-returnable and non-transferable. Your donations allow the National MS Society to fund vital medical research and support over 400,000 Americans living with MS, regardless of your participation in the event.
How do I get a copy of your 501(c)3 letter and/or tax ID number?

Are donations tax deductible?
All donations are tax deductible in the same calendar year your donation was processed to the extent allowed by law. Please work with your tax professional to determine what deductions you are eligible for.
Are registrations fees tax deductible?
Registrations fees are not tax deductible.
Can I send a money order or cashier’s check?
Yes, we accept money orders and cashier’s checks for donations and registration fees.
How many people are on a team?
A team can be a minimum of 2 participants. There is no maximum amount of team members.
